Sarsuna is a neighborhood in South-West Kolkata. Part of the greater Behala region, it is reachable through Behala Chowrasta or through the narrow leans of Barisha. It is a predominantly Bengali neighborhood, though it is fast becoming a cosmopolitan place. It is bordered by Barisha in the east and Shakuntala Park to the west. Basically it is an area that was extremely rural prior to the 1971 "Bangladesh War". During the war the Govt. of India dumped scores of refugees from Bangladesh in this under developed locality, close to Kolkata, all of whom are now legalized INDIAN citizens. Moreover the area which is presently a fast developing and prosperous satellite township, where all amenities are found is alluring to a large section of Kolkata's community, stressed by the congested environs of the city's different parts.
The College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, commence its founding on 11th October, 1999, under the able guidance of the eminent social worker, Sri Nirmal Mukherjee. Initially an Evening College, it had very few students, teachers and non-teaching staffs. But within five years, the College become a very prosperous center of higher education.
The campus, measuring 5400 sq.ft.(approx), is situated beside a massive water body & amidst tranquil greenness. The building consist four floors, housing large specious class rooms & laboratories, staff room, library, office etc.
